Our Story

The past few years have been eye opening for the world. We all experienced life through a different lens, which made us dig deep into what mattered most. Redefining normalcy has been hard, but the resilient nature of New York and its people are what make this city great. We are tough, we are united, and most importantly we wear our hearts on our sleeves with vigor and stride. We bet on each other time and time again, and right when we think we are up against a wall, magic happens, and the city lights and sounds guide us back.

New York is known for its richness in the variety of cultures. Our chefs and staff are comprised of many ethnicities ranging from the deserts of Morocco, to the seas of Goa, to the streets of Delhi and the hills of Tamilnadu. No matter the region, language or religion, we are a family and one thing is for sure; we will ALWAYS bet on each other time and time again. We don’t give up. 

As many of you know, the restaurant industry has faced it’s fair share of challenges during this time. With indoor dining initially closed and customer interactions becoming nonexistent, our team felt defeated. Our love for food, passion and community was stripped from us, and take-out orders became the norm. Inspiration was at an all time low and the light at the end of the tunnel seemed too far to comprehend. We knew we needed to dig deep; for our team, our families, and most importantly for our culture. 

Consistent brainstorming sessions and a vast amount of new found time, led our team to dive back into the roots of what they do best. We started experimenting with new dishes, new techniques, and even pushed the bar to explore different ethnic cuisines. Our hearts started feeling full again and innovative teamwork made the kitchen, which was once dead, a playground of creativity. 

And boom; in a New York minute, Baazi, an eclectic concept made from passion and love was born. This refreshing menu challenged our team to think outside the box of how Indian food should be represented in today’s world. Modern flair paired with traditional spices paved the way for groundbreaking recipes that made us proud. We feel alive, reignited and ready to bring you a redesigned restaurant, filled with atmospheric tunes that will leave your hearts and bellies feeling mesmerized. 

The meaning of Baazi is to “bet”, and it gives us no greater joy to know that you’ve consistently done that for us. Thank you for standing with us, and more importantly betting on us.
